Default pilchards in Big Pine Key

Heading down to Big Pine Key tomorrow and want to net some pilchards. Any advice as to what time of day and where (flats, ocean v. gulf side, bridges)? Throwing about a 12 foot net with small mesh. Thanks!

i know they are pretty thick in front of sombrero beach in marathon early in the morning, ill be heading down tommorrow.

Sorry for the late response, Got back from the keys and found that they were thick around bridges but only after dark. Netted and sabiki'd just fine. Thanks
