Welcome to the forum!
If you mean help posting pictures, click on the Gallery tab above ... go to the Deep drop section and post away. Then when you are posting on this forum, just click on the little box on the toolbar that says "insert image" and it will bring the picture over from the gallery. Hope this helps. |

Those are some beautiful queens!! I live 180 miles to south of you but same type of reef...( Ambergris Caye below Xcalak). I cant find queens like that...other than once in a while. Are you fishing just off the drop off or further out? How deep? my botom is 450 600 feet after final ledge in about 250 ft. I asume you dont have any structure to fish either other than bottom of ledges like me? Post more pics

I THINK WE HAVE THE SAME KIND OF BOTTOM, AFTER 600 FEET KEEP GOING OUT AND YOU WILL FIND HILLS OR MOUNTAINS ( I DONT KNOW I YOU CALL) 750- 900 FEET. IT TAKES TIME BUT DONT GIVE UP. AS SOON AS YOU FIND IT TRY THE UPPER AND THE FACE -CURRENT PART OF THE HILL, THOSE ARE THE MOST PRODUCTIVE. DONT FORGET DECEMBER-JANUARY ARE THE BEST MONTHS FOR QUEENīS.

Hi hmmm now you have me thinking....Our reef is the same as playa. When I go past the drop off the bottom stays flat with a gentle slope. I have gone off shore a few times and never saw any structure so I turned back... but I didnt look too hard either.
I will go ahead and take a day when it is calm to survey. Are you saying the hills come from for example 900 ft to 750 ft?? mas o menos how wide are these hills??. |

Always a good idea to rig your dropper hooks off cable to keep from losing your entere rig too!

Hi Belize,,Just go out to deeper waters ... say 900-1000ft .. where it drops off ... what you are looking for are rises say 100ft then to 50 and back down .. like hills and valleys the queens if around will be on top ... think of flat bottom with a giant rock the size of a house .. that`s what you need to find ... hope this helps you locate them ..Tight lines...Willi _________________ drop where few fisherman have gone before

We stay at a friends private residence on the beach in Tulum. I've taken a charter and fished for billfish out of Port Aventuras with great success
while the women recovered from the night before. But with your pics, I was wondering about getting a panga and trying the fishing off Tulum, but can't decide what type of panga or inflatable might work best down there . I also have Kristal deep drop 651s that I was going to sell, but if I can hook them up down there and catch queens like that, I'm re-thinking my plan What do you know about that area
