I was Grouse hunting last weekend in VT. with my Wife and my dog. We shot a couple of birds (and shot at a couple of birds ) Also saw a couple of Turkeys.

Long story short, I got back in my truck and drove another 5 or 6 miles back into the woods scouting. I decided enough was enough so I pulled over to take the dog out of the back and dry him off (he is in every piece of water, mud, puddle he can find ) So I am drying the dog and I hear something. I turn around and there is this pretty big Moose (I guess he was about a thousand lbs., I am pretty good at judging fish weights but I don't get the opportunity to guess Moose weights that often ). I say to my wife where is the camera? She said why? Then she said Holly S#!^. The first picture was of the truck . I was a little excited. The next three were ok but this is the best one. You can't really tell without blowing up the picture but he was about 50 inches across in the rack.

Now as far as moose huntig goes, that one is in a perfect position. We always tell people to shoot them close to the road, and that's about as close as it gets. We'll be in WY in two weeks and will probably see a couple. Nothing compares with our property in Maine where they'll come up and eat Christmas wreaths off the front door...just like in Alaska. Too bad we haven't been able to pull a permit for one after more than 15 years worth of trying. Actually with the elk and mulies, and the squid/bait, I would definitely need a bigger freezer.
