Default Slow start

The rain on Sat really had the animals close to home. Got 5 or 6 hogs but no deer. Sun was nicer but not a lot of movement. That is what keeps us coming back!!!

We had a slow start as well. Nothing but hogs moved sat morning and sat evening was a washout. Sun morning was a bit better...saw 2 small bucks and a couple of nannys. Sun night was dead except for the 300# black bear that walked under my buddies stand and this morning I had to remove a rather large hog who had decided that my feeder was his feeder. I cleared up the misunderstanding and he won't be back.

QQ,

What in the world are you doing with all the meat? When I get a hog or two from the cane fields in the Lakeport area, its usually enough for a very long time.

Ever try the power lines by 441?

We have a wild cat place up the road from camp as well as Gatorama that take any extra hogs. This year the hogs are out of control. Talked to some other guys around our lease and they say the same. Deer have been down in the number for everyone as well. The low water level at Fisheating creek is hurting us for sure. Those hog numbers are for our camp not just me. The hogs are so thick I hear talk of copters flying around and shooting them as well.

Years ago when the dogs pinned down small males, we would cut their balls off then let them go in an attempt to control the population, and they grew bigger faster. Looking back, this was useless. Any more, just kill them. I wonder if Lion Country would take them, or even pay something for them?

Saw a couple of nice bucks by the VA Cemetary.
