Default Everglades Buck "Big Cypress" 5-23-09

Saw this buck this morning while working in the glades. The bucks are in full velvet. I have seen much bigger this week but this was the only one that would pose for me.

Nice!!! I can't wait for season to start. Just ordered a new Marlin 45-70 in stainless, it will take any game animal in this hemisphere; from whitetail to buffalo...

Yeah, we have been seeing quite a few nice bucks up near the Bear Island Unit.

Anybody on here hunt Big Cypress? He've hunted Bear Island for the past two turkey season without success. But, since they had that fire we have seen quite a bit more deer, turkey and even bear.

I down loaded my game cam yesterday and this bruiser is a frequent visitor at one of my feeders. Hope he sticks around until September.

I wish he was "my" buck. Hopefully around 7am on the 12th I'll own him. If that happens, there won't be enough beer in the cooler hahaha

I tell you what Bill the new lease is just awsome. Gregg really has done a great job on it over the years. Our biggest problem right now is the hogs. The big boars keep wanting to camp out at the feeders. Got some pics with nice deer hogs and turkey in the same pic!! Going up to Ft.Pierce tonight to trade a guy my atv for a nice little buggy. Scrub oak acorns are getting some size on them as well. Will call you on Sat night the 12th to see who's is bigger!!

Sounds good....I don't know if it's the rut right now or what, but there have been a lot of really nice bucks seen the last couple of weeks. I have heard that the FWC is looking at a season date change for next year to take advantage of Florida's early rut. The proposal for the south zone is to open the season on August 1 and close it October 16 for 5 weeks and then to open up a second phase of general gun on November 21 until Jan 2. Sounds kinda interesting....it would give the woods a chance to "cool off" for awhile and allow us to hunt the full rut. Here's some links to the info: won't let me post it...anyway, it's on myfwc.com

I see a doz to 2 doz deer every trip in the woods. I have seen 5 nice bucks trailing does. Saw a nice ten looking to mount up on a doe. The doe was doing a zig zag get off me trot!!lol I guess she wanted him to buy her dinner first.
