Default Sons first hunting trip...pics

Headed out to Hog Heaven Preserve. They are great with kids.
He let us just stalk the property for a while. We saw some hogs but they were all trophy hogs and we were looking for meat hogs. My son was tired so we started walking back and 2 of the guides there said there was some hogs feeding on some corn they had tossed out and we could maybe go shoot one there. We took a drive to see and I did not see anything I really wanted to shoot. My son never seeing an animal get shot says shoot one dad. I said, ok which one? he said the spotted one. Bang the 30-30 took down the little guy. My son was so excited and I was glad cause I was not sure if he would wig out.

Later after they cooked us up some lunch my son wanted to stay around the lodge with the guides and owner. Owner said go on out in the woods he'll be fine here, we'll put him to work. The owner started a fire for my son and they took him around to spread corn about 75 yards from my stand.
After about 20 minutes some hogs came out. I was able to take a nice sow, waited for 20 more minutes and they came back and I took another nice sow.

My son had a great time and did not wig out at all. The folks at HH were just great and they love having kids around. Thanks Bob.

Way to go. I'm at my hunting camp right now and one of my guests killed his first hog tonight. Talk about being all smiles!

Thats cool to share with your son! He will remember it for ever. I remember when my Dad put me on my first on a mud bank on the Miami canal over 35 years ago, actually I ended up with 2 at once.
