With the fall and winter weather approaching I will be doing most of my fishing out of the Arroyo. On Friday we fished an area that has been holding lots of bait. Our topwaters got plenty of attention early on. Shawn managed to hook on to a large trout; she gave him a fight only to lose her at the boat. The reason she got off was because she straightened out the hooks on the super spook jr. We landed a few more fish, and then noticed redfish with their backs out of the water against the shoreline as the sun was rising. The guys jumped off and I walked the boat in another direction with Bobby on board. We could see the reds clearly with their backs out of the water and could here in the background the guys were hooking up behind us. Now, it was Bobby’s turn, there was a group of about thirty reds working right against the shoreline and in the excitement Bobby commented I have never seen this before. She fought a small one and had numerous shots at some bruisers; we even experienced some tailing action. What a morning they were experiencing. After they shut down we ran the flats and the redfish wakes were thick but I wanted to take them to a spot where I had been seeing some very large trout. Well, the redfish decided to take over and they caught redfish till they said no more. Off we went to try some other possible trout spots and guess who showed up, more redfish, it was unbelievable. The bite was phenomenal all day; we even managed to box a few trout. It was a blast to be on the water this day and topwaters were the go to bait. Bobby you did great and congradulations on the big trout of the day.
