You can't go wrong with a Shimano Tiara or TLD or A penn international. There is a buzz about this Red Pig reel, But I would buy that after you got your core set up. sdjroyal - Why don't you Pay for a ad instead of being such a leach.

Question - Why does everyone think you need 80 wides for swordfish? They are huge reels and I have yet to see a swordfish down here that could not be caught on a 50 wide - be it Penn, Avet, or the like. You certainly don't need an 80 for the drag as everyone fights swords with pretty light drags unless it gets down and dirty and you have to really button down the drag. With any 50 wide giving you more than enough drag for swordfishing and holding a full 1500 yards of 80 pound braid I ask again -are 80 wides really neccesary?
I would say a two speed reel is the only way to go for grinding it out with a fish that is fighting deep like a big YFT or Sword but the 50 wides always do the job. |

Since the end of the handle shaft is not in the picture no one could tell if it was 2, or even 3 speed - do they make 3 speed reels? Just joking Royal - you have to be able to take some chit on the forum.
