Am I the only one to notice this, but everyone is jumping on the swordfishing bandwagon. These sword tournys are the new dolphin tournys. Theres one damn near every week from the begining of Aug. to mid Oct.

I was just thinking the same thing a few days ago. Pick your Sword tournament of the week. I think I'll hold one soon. 400 per boat, I need to build my sworfishing funds up for the winter. Winner get's a kiss on the cheak from me, unless it's Captain Ken. He gets one on the lips.

You Guys are funny, but it does appear that there is a new sword tourney every time you log on to here or the other forum.

Long time lurker, first post. usually out there during the week on my yellow ww or Bertram 46 "Masada".

I have helped put this tourney together for the past several years (this is the third one) It started 4 years ago as an "LYC members" event and spread from there. Last tourney a 134# fish was biggest (Salt Shaker 30, not in the Calcutta) but Kunta was 2nd with a 127# and went home with the big $$$. A few answers....Kitty McGowan (Ft. Laud. Billfish tourney) is organizing and running it this year. LYC is the host, free dockage & parking is available from the Captain's meeting on...The club is a great venue, and the expense budget is limited to the food/drinks consumed at the party + trophies & marketing costs. Rest is paid out. At the weigh-in, the grills will be lit on the front lawn, a few coolers with beverages might be available, and fresh showers open for all.....

Sounds good. Is this 100% payout?

Yes, there are some food and beverage costs for snacks and drinks at the Captain's meeting and awards party, but the rest is paid out.

Way to go to the guys that competed and weighed fish. The winds sure were blowing at the dock.

I believe Drew "Darkside" aboard Chips A'Hoy took first...

Alright Darkside! You seem to win tournaments when you aren't running them! I was with the wife down on fort lauderdale beach last night, and the wind was ripping sand all over the place. You guys must of been rocking and rolling.

I had the radio with me and didn't hear one mention of the sword tournament?

Good Job boys. We were out in a friends 25 Contender and called it a night around 10:00 with 2 releases of small fish. Seas were getting to big for one of our crew and decided to call it a night.

I saw one of those purple hydroglows in the water. would like to get my hands on it. Any help?

I believe Weekly Sails took 2nd with an 83 pound fish and Masada was 3rd with an 81 pound fish. Masada also had a release of a 48"er.

Well my tourney luck plagues me again.......I was suppose to fish North out of Palm Beach, so we decided not to enter the tourney......anyway ended up fishing out of Boca and getting a 62 inch fatty, that most likely would have won it.

Congrats Drew and Mitch on your finishes
