Default Fish I.D. please

OK, experts, what's this? Caught off the Pacific coast of Mexico. Looks like a long billed spearfish, but I can find no references to that species living in the Pacific, they all refer to Atlantic populations. Maybe a hybrid sailfish/shortbill spear combo?? Or does a juvenile shortbill have, well, a long bill??

Tough one. Longbill only inhabit the Atlantic, and it is not a shortbill. It is likely a juvenile marlin, possibly a juvenile striped marlin:

Juvenile Striper unless a longbill transitted the Panama Canal. Hard to make the 100% Marlin call when you've never seen one that small. Harry

Why isnt that a small sailfish? I thought that spearfish had more of a marlin type dorsal fin...
