From www.FishBase.org

That is a WhatTheFock Fish, NonIdenticum Fiscus. Also known as a Que EsEstAPescaDuMadre in Spain and a MerdeDuPoisson in France's Bay of Biscay, it is found only in cold Arctic waters and its range extends to Madagascar during spawning season, which is year round twice a year.

Said to eat only crabs, clams, lobsters and other bottom-dwelling prey, this mid-column dwelling fish attacks its prey from the side, much like a teenage driver at an intersection.

The largest WhatTheFock fish on record is the IGFA All Tackle World Record 55 lb-4 oz (985 kilos - metric) specimen caught on rod & reel from a commercial dragger's crewman named Shakes O'Shaughnessy.

Hope This Helps,
Catch-All (j/k)

Ok, so I looked through my entire book of Atlantic fish to try to figure this one out. Without seeing the tail--which would help a lot--it looks like a "Lumpfish." If it isn't a "Lumpfish," then it's one of the other species of "lumpsuckers" or it's one of the species of "snailfish." I'm not making this shit up. The only issue is the species' range, as they all appear to be cold water fish. That goes for the lumpsuckers and the snailfish. This fish does not appear to be a frogfish, like I've caught before.

Regarding the venerable Lumpfish, it says, ""Dorsal profile humped. Ridges of tubercles on midback and side." Later, on a different page, it says the same, followed by, "Three other rows of tubercles on side; uppermost row extends from tip of snout to base of tail. 1st dorsal fin visible only in young. Color variable--usually greenish or gray; males reddish below. Size: to 2ft and 21lbs. Range: Hudson Bay to James Bay and Lab. to N.J.; rarely to Chesapeake Bay and Bermuda; also in e. Atlantic. Remarks: A food fish in Europe; eggs used for caviar."

Euros will eat anything.

Here's what sucks about that video: The narrator, when talking about a spiny dogfish, speaks of "rows of sharp teeth." Dogfish don't have that. Pitiful work, National Geographic.

All kidding aside (for once) I think the WTF? Fish is a Wolf Fish caught mostly over in Europe.

As for Spiny Dawgs, I HATE those things! Thanks to the MAFMC, they severely curtailed commercial catches of Spiny Dawgs and now they're so abnormally thick that it's damn near impossible now to catch any bluefish or stripers using jigging techniques.

Every time I caught one of those damn things I had a 12" serrated Russell knife that would guillotine them quite effectively. "Off With their Heads!"

Catch

Wolffish are more eel-like than that big blobby bastard. Wolffish also have lots and lots of teeth and feed primarily on lobsters and the like.

Rodrattler- my bad. The dogfish I've caught never had any teeth unless you would say that a largemouth bass has teeth. They must have been a different species.
