Leaving for Costa Rica tomorrow to do some offshore YF, Marlin and Dorado fishing and lots of drinking..

Who knows, maybe I'll drop a squid all the way to the bottom in the late afternoon.

I tried swordfishing off Flamingo a couple of years ago. We couldn't keep a bait down because of the 30-80# squid that were like a pack of wild dogs. They spanked the baits immediately. We never did figure out how to get past them so we gave up. I'm sure there are swords there, but I'd concentrate on all the sails, blues, blacks, and YF tunas

9/0 hooks work pretty well but $100 bills are the way to go at the Beetle bar and Blue Marlin Bar. Have a blast.

I caught 1 off of golfito in about 850' of water in the late afternoon with a rigged split tail mulet in 2000.
