Default Caught a Tagged fish 65' 1/27

1/27 put a nice fish in the boat when i noticed a tag in him so i measured him called the billfish foundation they transfered me to the person that handles tagging no answer left a message with my name and number but didn't call me back info on what to do because i realy wana know where this fish was caught before.

Nice fish.. I'd imagine we are primarily the only ones tagging swords right? Not sure if the guys in NZ or up north are doing any tagging...

I'd very curious to hear the results.

i have cought and released several small fish. Should we be tagging? If so, How would i get information and supplies for tagging?

1/2 looks like a go for me.... catch you on the 72.....

I'm going to see about getting SFC tags that I'll distribute to all the members here... Maybe we can get a post about properly tagging the little guys without injurying them...

I'll look around for some custom tags and keep you posted...

yea whoever taged my fish didn't properly tag the fish they stuck him right in the middle of the meat...yea getting sfc tags sounds like a great idea has anyone ever caught a taged swordfish before?? i havn't heard of anyone

If I had tags, I'd start releasing those 55 inchers. It is a good idea for us to learn a little more.

the TBF tags swords. also taging is a common occurance among longline vessals with observers aboard. UM has a tagging project also.

remember the comercial guys have a motive with tagging. they want the fisherys opeaned up again, so if they can prove the population is healty through tagging they will try.

since the fish was taged badly in the (laterel line ?) i would assume it was taged by a longliner north of cuba, most rec. guys have a easier tag since they are closer to the water line.

thats just my $.02

Default New update on location of tagged fish

the lady from the billfish foundation said the fish was tagged in 02 and the captin lives in jacksonville dosn't clarify where the fish was caught or the size...because the captin didn't fill out the card so they are trying to contact the captin will post any new info i get

I have had two swords that I tagged recaptured 1 after 40 days off Canaveral the other after 1 year off Key Largo

i heard reseantly that a guy put his wedding ring on the bill of a sailfish because he got divorsed then a year or 2 later he caught the same fish with the ring on its bill i douno if this is true i heard that the guy is taking a polly graph test b/c people didn't believe him

they are giving that guy a lie detector test on monday on the paul and young ron show on big 106..(105.9fm) should be interesting
