VHF Radio Help!

I installed a new VHF radio in my boat, I moved the new radio 6" from the old location. The only other change I made was that I flush mounted the new radio and the old one was surface mounted. I cannot get the new radio to work. If you have the radio on HI it just squeals when you key the mic. Has anyone ran into this before. I am trying to look for a solution without having to relocate the radio or antenna.
