Got out of the ramp on Johnson st in hollywood about 7:00 am with my daughter and neice in tow. Hence the no waking up at 4:30 to get bait on the reef before sunup.
Headed up the intracoastal doing dual duty of rigging hoos and making sure the girls didn't run the boat into the seawall and headed out to about 600 ft. Damn I must say the new GPS/sounder, Lowrance 337 is nice, reads to over 600 on the 200 khz, didn't have a chance to check out the 50 hkz but I think it will have no problems. Short story, Not a damn thing out there. Even the gulls were sitting on the water bored. Sloppy as hades with the wind out of the NW and the rollers, 2' to 4', out of the NE. Trolled around from about 600 to 90 ft with not a thing in site. Only weed out there was pipe and eel grass blown out from the shallows. Occasionally the few pieces of sargassum out there would get on the hoos and require my attention, at which time the boat would mysteriously start doing S's while under the guidance of the girs. I still can't figure out that one. Spent about 2 hours doing that and decided to head home. Needless to say, if you think you missed anything out there today, You didn't. Maybe next week will be better.
