Default DSOM II Swordfish Tournament Results

There are alot of things I can plan with regards to this tournament, but weather is definitely not one of them. I have to give alot of credit to the guys that stuck it out and fished their hardest tonight. This was a difficult task, but it was well worth it in the end for three exceptional teams:

1st Place - Double D - 172lbs.
2nd Place - Killer Buzz - 144 lbs.
3rd Place - Chips Ahoy - 125 lbs.

Congratulations to these teams. I'll give more details tommorow after I catch some zzzzzz's.

Get ready for next year - we'll be holding three tournaments. I'll have the dates out in a month or so. Hopefully I won't pick a date that a hurricane hits or a night of 6 foot NE ground swells.

Hey Darkside, 6 foot ground swells would of been nice. We headed back in around 10: 30pm and we were on the 2603. I saw the first set of large ground swells and made the call to head in. If they were anything short of 12-15 feet I'd be surprised. We didn't want to stick around for building seas. I have been out there on times when we called it a night and it was to late only to have a 3 hour ride back home in the slop.

I was glad to be a part of it all, wish I had the stomach to have stuck it out. No one would have predicted that. I was fishing all morning on flat seas with a small 2 foot swell and struggling to keep up the kite baits till 1:30 pm. Besides the passing storms that were heading our way I was convinced they were going to be short lived. I think it was around 10 pm that the temps dropped about 10 degrees and the NE wind picked up to 20+ knots and gusting.
Congrats to all, winners or not.

Congrats to all those that caught a Sword and especially Double D, Very Nice Fish. Also, Congrats to all those that participated under less than ideal conditions. Like Hannaman, we called it quits around 10:30 without a bite.

Joey, that small fish was 53" not 43". Wish we would have caught the one that hit at around 2, but it would have been one hell of a ride to go weigh it in.
