FIN-ADDICT
Danny Massalon 810 Broad Street Camden, SC 29020 803-600-3869 demmass@bellsouth.net TO: All Marinas FROM: Danny Massalon DATE: July 5, 2006 SUBJECT: Stolen Rods & Reels Stolen Rods & Reels On Sunday, July 2nd the Fin-Addict returned to home port in Edisto, SC after fishing the Mega-Dock tournament in Charleston, SC. The first mate and captain cleaned the boat and rods & reels, put everything away. At sometime during the night or early the next morning, the Fin-Addict was broken into and nine rods & reels were stolen. I am asking all fisherpersons to help us catch these grand larcenous people and bring them to justice. Below is a list of all stolen items: 2) Penn International 50 wide with 6 ft. dark colored Penn rods. 1) Penn International 50 wide 2 speed with 5 1/2 ft. white tuna stick rod. 2) Penn International 80 wide 2 speed with 6 ft. blue stand-up rods w/finger grip handle. 2) Penn International 80 wide with 7 ft. custom built rods white w/burgundy & green wraps straight butt. 2) Penn International 80 wide with 7 ft. dark colored rods straight butt. All rods have roller guides (Aftco). All reels have florescent green line except the custom 7 ft. 80 wide which has clear line. All rods are black straight butt rods except 7 ft. custom which are bright aluminum. All rod & reels have wind-on leaders except 7 ft. custom rigs. If anyone has any information about these rods & reels, please contact DNR, the local authorities, or me at my daytime #803-432-3814 or cell #803-600-3869. Thanks to all for your help. Danny:
Sorry to hear about your loss. It seems like you had a collection of some very nice equipment. No new owner could appreciate it as much as you. Pray that the burglers were closer to the Darwin Awards than the successful Cat-Burgler's league. I doubt if we see your stuff materialize down here but at least you have your unfortunate news posted on this forum. Keep an eye on e-bay. For one, I imagine that you may need some more equipment, and fast if you are a charter boat operation. I hope that you have recorded the serial numbers of your reels and left some form of distinguishing mark(s) on the rods. If you are very lucky you will find an e-bay post with similar equipment, where you may have the opportunity to buy back at the USED market price. And super lucky if it was indeed your own equipment, that was stolen. The only evidence you may need then is a proof of accurate description or serial number knowledge prior to acquiring the fishing equipment. It is all hypothetical, but you do have a chance. I cannot imagine a person keeping and using stolen goods in a small fishing community because someone may pass the word, and then they will be prime candidates for "a good whoopin' ". So check out e-bay as you are shoppping for new fishin-stuff. P.S. - If you happen to buy new rods, perhaps you consider to go semi-custom. Using a high quality shop, you can have your boat name labelled under the clear coat. Consider it a $20 engraving premium. Imagine if you posted a report of stolen rods: that have FIN-ADDICT labeled on the rods. Sorry for your situation; but you will have to move forward from here. RT |
