FWC SEEKS PUBLIC INPUT ON SHARK RULE PROPOSAL

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) has scheduled a public workshop in West Palm Beach to receive input on a proposed rule to designate 13 shark species as “prohibited species.” The purpose of this proposed rule is to reduce fishing mortality and rebuild spawning stocks of sharks believed to be rare or in need of further protection and make Florida’s shark rules more consistent with existing federal regulations.
