Default Weather buoy on the 50 ?

Why is it we have a weather buoy about every 200NM all the way around the coast of the country except florida ? How great would it be to have a moored buoy 15 to 20 miles off PE ? Not only would live weather reports be great but as a FAD it would hold alot of bait and pelagics! I have to belive it might help with the study of hurricanes and other weather also. It could measure gulfstream temps and current flow. Maybe the national data buoy center has a reason for not having a buoy there? Maybe they just never thought to put one there. Anybody have any input on this?

Or maybe there's a certain predictability about the Gulf Stream conditions near Florida? Just a guess. I have no idea.

Them little weather bobbers ain't cheap!

NOAA funding blues = very little chance of seeing mooring in
stream. have they replaced the Lake Worth Pier site (much cheaper)
since last year?? I know of a few proposals for installing wave buoys,
including at Fowey Rocks, that have not been funded. cheers,
arthur

Last year there was a bouy out there but I think it was around the 54 line or deeper. It was a big red one. We used to catch huge runners off it and Dolphin.
