concerned recreationalists have decided to organize a very important event.
We have all been following the ongoing problem in the South Fork River and are as concerned as the next guy. Instead of sitting at home and doing nothing about it, We have decided to call on every single Boater, Fisherman, Hunter, Sun Bather, Beachgoer, Waterskier, Wakeboarder, Kayaker, Tuber, and Swimmer to show up on September 24th "National Estuary Day" and show the state that we are concerned. We have all read the newspapers, watched info appear online, and talked about it with our friends and family. We decided that the best way to really show the state , how many people care is to show up at the locks on the South Fork River in Stuart, Florida and let them know we are the people that want this problem fixed. Is it an overnight solution? Absolutely not. Anyone that has lived in the area for 20 years can tell you that. We realize this Flotilla is not going to all of the sudden get things moving the very next business day. Our goal is to keep this matter so public for so long that it is fresh in the minds of Florida's decision makers until planning and actions are taken. We ask you to forward this page to every single person that you know and personally ask them to show up and support the Indian River Lagoon on this one Saturday. National Estuary Day. Even if you dont live in the area we are asking people to trailer their boats, jetksis, kayaks, and canoes and make this event a huge success. If 20 or thirty boats show we would be excited. We believe there is no reason we cant pack the South Fork River all the way to the Palm City Bridge. WE HOPE! We ARE NOT going to block any channels. We are going to line the rivers edge one boat after another until no more rigs show up! BBQ, meet others, swap stories, and have a good time. Just remember we want to be good representatives of our Indian River Lagoon. Out of hand Partiers wiil be asked to leave. This is meant to be fun but it is serious too! We are asking everyone to starting heading up river until you are directed by a flagman in a orange vest. They will show you where to park you boat. If you want to be next to your friends boat you need to come together as we are going to be parking the boats like concerts park cars. Once we get you in there, there will be no more room for your friends! We are looking forward to a good turnout and want to thank all of those who attend in advance! I hope swordfishcentral guys can show up for this one!!!!!! Doug |
