Default Hurricane Emily - Jamaica & Cayman Islands

To our friends in the Islands, we hope all is well and that Hurricane Emily goes easy on you. GOOD LUCK

Quote:
7:21 A.M. Friday: Emily, now with winds of 135 mph, is on a track that forecasters say could pass just south of Jamaica Saturday, near the Cayman Islands Sunday and over Mexico's Yucatan peninsula late Sunday or early Monday.

Mike Hennessy, a radio news director on Grand Cayman island writes in his blog "every seat on every Cayman Airways Flight out of here" is sold out. The airline added four extra flights to Miami for today to help people get out at just before the storm hits. The Caymans were among the hardest hit islands by Ivan last year -- it is estimated that 95 percent of homes on the island were damaged.

Still, the islands are small targets in a big sea. Currently, Emily's track appears slightly south of the Caymans, and hurricane force winds extend only 40 miles out from the eye, making Emily a compact storm.

Mike, thanks for the best wishes. We have dodged another bullet in Jamaica. I am not sure if its the great people here or the blue mountains but something is sure keeping us out of harms way. These big storms can really wreck our small countries like Jamaica and Cayman.
My best wishes and prayers go out to Mexico, Belize and wherever this storm makes landfall.
