Default Prescription Sunglasses

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I am looking to get new prescription sunglasses. I am looking at the Costa frames and lenses. Costa does not make prescription lenses, I called them, but do allow a copy of their 400 series lens. They do not allow copies of their 580 lenses. Anyone have experience with prescription sunglasses for offshore use or recomidations

I used to go to Clearsight on 17th in Ft. Laud, but that may be a little far from PSL.

Lately I have been going wherever my health/vision plan covers my glasses, and get 2 pairs cheap + decent styled frames with polarization and as dark of tint as the optom. can do.

I don't put a lot of $ into them because I beat them up too quickly!

The last pair I had were Nike frames with "temple" style arms (rather than around the ear).. I liked them, but they are available anymore..

I have had 3 pairs of script costas done by clearsight in fort-lauderdale.
they run, if memory serves, 250-300$...what a bargain!!

Makes a good argument for Lasik. Which I will do someday when I have the balls. Hard to do when the GF keeps telling me of all the complications. Of course she a med/mal attorney and only gets to see catastophic cases.
Good thing she already has big BOOBS cause plastic surgery is also out of the question.

One thing, keep this in mind. If you go with mirror, on prescriptions, at least at clearsight, the blue (or green) mirror film is on the outside and it is VERY SOFT. It scratches easily, to the point where they will be unusable that is why my third pair I left out the bloody mirror!!

I have had a few pairs of serengetty, and others done at Wallyworld for less than half the price and been very happy!!

Another thing, If this is your first pair of perscription Costas, when you first put them on, you will feel a little weird, give it a few days for your eyes to adjust.

Let me know who you go with and what you get, I need to get a few pairs done as well. Thanks.

Mainly used for reading, I wear regular Costas now, but it is PITA to keep switching to reading glasses to read the GPS. I do not want contacts. My eyes have a minimal prescription

I went with Photo gray stuff. I have had glasses for 8 years and I have invisable trifocal lenses. I too tried to go to Costas a number of years ago with limited sucess. It can be done but my insurance would not cover. What I have now is reg perscription. Went to wal-mart eye wear and got clip on sunglasses, not the cheap ones. The kind that actually clips on to sides, comes with a case. I have had them for over 2 years no scratches. About 25/30 bucks.
