Thumbs up Red Pig Fishing Reels

I just purchased these new reels called "Red Pig" Brand Reels.
I paid $499 each for 4 2 speed 80w`s at the Palm Beach Boat Show and tried them out last week.

Despite the winds and drift conditions I have to say these Reels are awesome.

My friend bought the 15W for $299 in two speed version and hooked a 7 foot Shark and landed it.........

I found their website if any Fisherman are interested [b][url=http://www.redpigfishing.com][b]

I know the name is weird but the Reels are Awesome

Two thumbs up!

Florida Fisherman

I just hit their link and they look pretty good but what do you do when you need service? And do you have any idea what the maximum drag is on these reels? there is no information on that anywhere.

I used two 80w on tuna and wahoo the drags are very close 10lbs of drag in less than 1/4". I am not very happy with the reels. Spoke with Brant the owner he offered me $200.00 per reel back after one use .Don't try and return the reels. Also, I feel customer service will be a problem .

I called Brant and got the story>>>>>>>

He said he would sell them for you but you obviously did something to upset him , I know he would have made good on this.....

Try again...

Zelina, Red Pig, Pro Challenger.... they are all reels that have tried to claim they are as good or better than the main stream reels. While some of the internals are nice, the whole package will leave you wondering one day why your reel failed and you can no longer find the guy that sold them to you.

Not always... but sometimes you get what you pay for. So if you are not a fisherman but want to give a shiny reel to a freind for a gift and they too are not a fisherman... you can save money and buy one of those reels. But if you are to use 50 or 80 class gear on the intended species.... save your money and stick with the main stream reels. Or if you want to have a cheap 80W on the boat so You can catch schoolie dolphin... those reels will probably last a few seaons IMO with proper maintenance. Or just buy a TLD for a 1/4 of the price of their 80W and have it last for 15+ years

I'm all for new reel company's but the knockoff oversea's reels have not held up in the past.

'1 yr warranty' vs. 'money back if not completely satisfied' are 2 completely different things... If someone really wants to enter this market, they will need to back it up w/the best warranty in the business... at least for a few years until everyone becomes a believer... I bought some Zelinas off Ebay & decided to sell them instead of using them b/c I feared i couldn't get them fixed if anything happened...
