Leaving On the Fish Magnet

All my bags are packed
Im ready to go
Got a reservation, at Blue Marlin Cove

I hate to wake you just to say goodbye
If I had twenty minutes, I could do it right
But its early morning
The Magnet's waiting
And he's an impatient guy
Already Im so fired up
I could fry.

Chorus

So kiss me and smile for me
Tell me that youll wait for me
Hold me like youll never let me go
Cause Im leavin on the Fish Magnet
Dont know when Ill be back again
Oh babe, I hate to go (NOT!)

Theres so many lures I want to put down
So many spots Ive fished around
The blood will flow, the catch will grow
And every night , we will get a glow
Every fish I catch , Ill catch for you
Every beer I drink, I'll drink for you
But I'll return by next Wednesday
I'll come back happy, and bring plenty of ........laundry.

Repeat chorus

Some great stuff guys!! I like Harry's choice of the stones classic and yes,
lyrics from Paul and John can fill up this page; anything from Born to Run
(I saw this tour in NYC in 1978!); Bat out of Hell by Meatloaf is so classic,
especially Paradise by the Dashboard Light; some nice sea songs and Robin
Trower's guitar work on Whiter Shade of Pale really does justice to the
lyrics; I'll admit it, I saw the Alice Cooper Dead Babies Tour at the Old
Academy of Music in NYC (later the Palladium); more later!! cheers, arthur

PS Here is one from Ray Davies that I can listen to every day.
-----------
Everybody's a dreamer and everybody's a star,
And everybody's in movies, it doesn't matter who you are.
There are stars in every city,
In every house and on every street,
And if you walk down Hollywood Boulevard
Their names are written in concrete!

Don't step on Greta Garbo as you walk down the Boulevard,
She looks so weak and fragile that's why she tried to be so hard
But they turned her into a princess
And they sat her on a throne,
But she turned her back on stardom,
Because she wanted to be alone.

You can see all the stars as you walk down Hollywood Boulevard,
Some that you recognise, some that you've hardly even heard of,
People who worked and suffered and struggled for fame,
Some who succeeded and some who suffered in vain.
Rudolph Valentino, looks very much alive,
And he looks up ladies' dresses as they sadly pass him by.
Avoid stepping on Bela Lugosi
'Cos he's liable to turn and bite,
But stand close by Bette Davis
Because hers was such a lonely life.
If you covered him with garbage,
George Sanders would still have style,
And if you stamped on Mickey Rooney
He would still turn round and smile,
But please don't tread on dearest Marilyn
'Cos she's not very tough,
She should have been made of iron or steel,
But she was only made of flesh and blood.

You can see all the stars as you walk down Hollywood Boulevard,
Some that you recognise, some that you've hardly even heard of.
People who worked and suffered and struggled for fame,
Some who succeeded and some who suffered in vain.

Everybody's a dreamer and everybody's a star
And everybody's in show biz, it doesn't matter who you are.

And those who are successful,
Be always on your guard,
Success walks hand in hand with failure
Along Hollywood Boulevard.

I wish my life was a non-stop Hollywood movie show,
A fantasy world of celluloid villains and heroes,
Because celluloid heroes never feel any pain
And celluloid heroes never really die.

You can see all the stars as you walk along Hollywood Boulevard,
Some that you recognise, some that you've hardly even heard of,
People who worked and suffered and struggled for fame,
Some who succeeded and some who suffered in vain.

Oh celluloid heroes never feel any pain
Oh celluloid heroes never really die.

I wish my life was a non-stop Hollywood movie show,
A fantasy world of celluloid villains and heroes,
Because celluloid heroes never feel any pain
And celluloid heroes never really die.

Richard and Eric, thanks for the invite but too many obligations and company
keeps me here. I hope you catch the big ones. Richard maybe you missed
your calling, you could be the next Dylan of the fishing songs!!

Here are a couple of my favorites from the Beatles:

I read the news today oh, boy
Four thousand holes in blackburn, lancashire
And though the holes were rather small
They had to count them all
Now they know how many holes it takes to fill the albert hall
I'd love to turn you on

===

And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make

====

Eleanor Rigby picks up the rice in the church where a wedding has been
Lives in a dream
Waits at the window, wearing the face that she keeps in a jar by the door
Who is it for?

One of my favorite going fishing songs.

If there's one thing in my life that's missing
It's the time I spend alone
Sailing on the cool and bright clear waters
There's lots of those friendly people
Showin me ways to go
And I never want to lose your inspiration

Time for
a cool change...
I know that it's time
for a cool change
Now that my life
is so pre-arranged
I know that it's time
for a cool change

Well I was born in the sign of water
And it's there that I feel my best
The albatross and the whales
they are my brothers
It's kind of a special feeling
When you're out on the sea alone
Starin' at the full moon
like a lover

Time for
a cool change...
I know that it's time
for a cool change
Now that my life
is so prearranged
I know that it's time
for a cool change

Well I've never been romantic
And sometimes I don't care
I know it may sound selfish
But let me breathe the air

Prof-O: Have you ever heard of an album named "The Mellow Dubmarine"? It is a reggae tribute to the Beatles...lots of older recordings transcribed from vinyl..so some of the song have hiss and click...which I think adds a lot of character to it.

the version of Eleanor Rigby is awesome...the whole album is a great boat album.

Well we're big rock singers, we got golden fingers
and we're loved everywhere we go
We sing about beauty and we sing about truth
at ten thousand dollars a show

Sorry I let my own thread die; life's been crazy lately. Thanks for the recommendation.
Too many good lyrics. I have a 300 and a 200 CD juke box that randomly play
all day long. Here's a few that caught my ear,

From Traffic, written by Dave Mason
Shouldn't have took more than you gave
Wouldn't be in this mess today
I know we've all got different ways
But the dues we've got to pay are still the same

Hunter and the Dead's Truckin' (I like versions from the Europe 72 tour)
Sometimes the light's all shining on me
Other times I can barely see
Lately it occurs to me
What a long strange trip it's been

I saw Hot Tuna and Little Feat last week at Sunfest. Jorma and Jack are still
rockin' after 50 yrs together!! cheers, arthur

here's one of my fave's, QQ I guessed your mystery lyric, do you know who this is?

Goodbye, little Robin-Marie
Don't try following me
Don't cry, little Robin-Marie
'Cause you know I'm coming home soon

My ships' leaving on a three-year tour
The next tide will take us from shore
Windlaced, gather in sail and spray
On a search for the mighty sperm whale

Fly your willow branches
Wrap your body round my soul
Lay down your reeds and drums on my soft sheets
There are years behind us reaching
To the place where hearts are beating
And I know you're the last true love I'll ever meet
And I know you're the last true love I'll ever meet

Starbuck's sharpening his harpoon
The black man is playing his tune
An old salt's sleeping his watch away
He'll be drunk again before noon

Three years sailing on bended knee
We found no whales in the sea
Don't cry, little Robin-Marie
'Cause we'll be in sight of land soon

Fly your willow branches
Wrap your body round my soul
Lay down your reeds and drums on my soft sheets
There are years behind us reaching
To the place where hearts are beating
And I know you're the last true love I'll ever meet
And I know you're the last true love I'll ever meet

Default Waterboys, fisherman

I wish i was a fisherman,
out on a stormy rolling sea.
far away from dry land.
and its bitter memories,
casting out my sweet line,
with abandonement and love,
no ceiling staring down at me,
save the starry sky above.

Default for those still on the darkside....

We'd like to almost every night,
When that moon gets big and bright
It's a supernatural delight
everybody's fishing in the moonlight

Everybody's here on the 50 line
they got squid and they got a light
it's a supernatural delight
Everybody fishing in the moonlight

Fishing in the moonlight
everybodys line is getting tight
it's a fine and natural sight
everybody fishing in the moonlight

We like our rum and we never fight (except in the forum)
you can't fish and stay uptight
it's a supernatural delight
Everybody fishing in the moonlight

Fishing in the moonlight
everybodys line is getting tight
the drift is fine and the drag is light
everybody fishing in the moonlight

Another turning point, a fork stuck in the road
Time grabs you by the wrist, directs you where to go
So make the best of this test and don't ask why
It's not a question but a lesson learned in time

It's something unpredictable
But in the end it's right
I hope you had the time of your life

So take your photographs and still frames in your mind
Hang it on a shelf in good health and good times
Tatoos of memories and dead skin on trial
For what it's worth, it was worth all the while

It's something unpredictable
But in the end it's right
I hope you had the Time of your Life.

~Good Riddance (Time of Your Life) - Green Day

I think this is one of the best songs written in the past 20 years. Absolutely gorgeous, I get choked up whenever I hear this song... but I get completely enthralled in music so...

Have you ever seen Green Day? They are an incredible live act-really take the audience and make them theirs!

Well, I was drinking last night with a biker
And I showed him a picture of you
I said, "Pal, get to know her. You'll like her."
Seemed like the least I could do...

'Cause when he's driving his chopper
Up and down your carpeted halls,
You will think me by contrast quite proper.
Never mind how I stumble and fall.
Never mind how I stumble and fall.

"Hell in a Bucket"
THE Grateful Dead
