Default Is it against the law to shoot a crackhead?

I tell you guys the economy may be rough but the theiving crackheads are doing well. I bought a duplex near downtown miami. Before I closed on it the crackheads hit the place and stole all the copper pipes and electrical cable. O.k not too bad I will just have to spend a little more $ and fix it. So i have all new plumbing run and electrical redone. My electrician calls me this morning and says I have a problem. I get to the property and the crackheads had hit the property again. This time they not only stole everything including my tools and toolbox, but they destroyed the walls to get to the copper. I just don't get it...... You try to do the right thing, be kind to people, put people to work only to get kicked in the nuts and teeth by a stinking theif. What really gets me is the cost of the copper they took was less than $400 however the destruction and replacement cost will run over $5000. Just don't get it.

My first thought was to repair it and then camp out with some fire power to take care of the problem. But killing a person over that would haunt you forever.Do you have insurance on it yet?Install an alarm system yet?Get it rented as soon as you can.Now if it were your home they were breaking in to that would be different. Then I would rain down on them with furious anger!!

Although I agree with QQ, I have no tolerance for that sort of thing.

I will leave it at that.

Sorry to here that Shane, I had a similar thing happen to me in Fort Lauderdale! I closed on thurs., moved in all my tools and equipment and Fri. night after we left at about 2am they cleaned us out! I moved into this place so I got a 150lb Fila mastiff. For the weapon of choice though, I reccomend a new pistol called the JUDGE shoots .45 cal. and 410 shotgun shells.

Welcome to the world of investment property ownership. The "rock monsters" will eat the dry wall if they could. Get it up and running, rented (hopefully to someone half decent) and pray for the best.

Unfortunately this stuff goes on not just in Miami. I was in the building supplies business (selling them, not stealing them) for 2 years and heard many people with this very problem. Here are two solutions they use:
1. Camp out with your friends Smith and Wesson. Scare them off one night and they never come back.
2. Paint all of your copper tubing a distinct color...say purple. Call local scrap yards and inform them of your purple tubing. They will not buy any purple, and the shitheads--when they see that your tubing is purple--won't tear it out of the walls.

I like option #1 best. Load your shotgun with rock salt and bacon fat rounds. Nonlethal, and hurts like hell.

For your and your family's sake u need the JUDGE You can guarantee a direct hit and the problem hits the ground. You gotta forgive me as I have grown up in Ft. Lauderdale and this city has made me this way! One thing I guarantee is that I will not be the victim next time You gotta fight fire with fire sometimes! Oh SHIIIT I'm late for my meds.!

I had the same problem at my business. I sell windows and doors, and we used to store some aluminum products outside the building in a fenced compound. We were noticing the aluminum tube mullions were dissapearing at a regular rate. These tube mulls are .375" thick and cost a lot of $$ to replace.
We know that the only use for the aluminum is to be sold as scrap to the local aluminum "and copper" recycling center.
We filed a police report, and the detective advised us to "mark" the aluminum in some manner so it can be identified later. We used a permanent marker to write our company name on some of the aluminum tubes. When they dissapeared, we went to the local recycling centers on our own...and found the missing tubes.
The beauty of the recycling centers is that they require the "sellers" to give them the info off thier drivers license in case of a claim of stolen goods.
BINGO....the guy at the center gave the info to the detective and gave a sworn statement that this particular crack head had sold those items and many others like it in the previous weeks.
6 months later the crack head was released from jail, and stays clear of my side of town..cuz now I know who he is.

Cap...go to your area copper recycling centers and look for your stuff. They should have a record of who sold it to them. If they don't...call the Sheriff dept as I believe they are required to get that info...just like a pawn shop.
Your copper is of no value other than salvage $$ for a crack head.

Good luck, and don't take the law into your own hands. You will end up in the can while the rock monster is out stealing more of your stuff.
