Default Winter fishing is finally here!!!

Well its about time we got our first cold front in South Florida. With the wind switching out of the NE and a little snap this weekend, bill fishing was going off.Had a trip this morning with 2 great guys from Texas.Caught plenty of bait and headed out to the edge to look for some sails.I threw out 2 flat lines off the bow,and before i could get the kite up we had our first sail on,and taht was just the beginning. We went 7-9 today, caught 15+kingfish,some spanish mac's,and even some dolphin all on the edge today.Thats what South Florida Sailfishing is all about.

I went out Swordfishing this evening to wet some lines before the tourney next weekend.Team Tiara got a late start, leaving the dock at about 7pm.We hit the grounds by about 8pm and started our drift. We had out Dave,A friend of ours, 70 yr old father, who was looking to get his first swordie.Well i sent out the first and second baits pretty quick, and as i was getting ready to drop the 3rd bait,we were hooked up! I quickly come tight on the fish, get Dave strapped in and the fight is on.2 minutes later we get bit on the deep line, but pulled the hooks quickly. We cleared that line, and after about 25 minutes dave has a nice 50" fish up to the boat. She unfortunatly was gut hooked, and we couldnt revive her,so we kept her for dinner. We run back about a mile to the spot where we hooked up,and again,I get the first 2 baits out and before i could drop the 3rd bait we were hooked up again. After about 15 minutes we released a pup about the same size.We quickly reset again and after about 45 min, everyone agreed that we had a good night,so we pulled them up and headed home.We were backa t the dock by 11:30.Thats what winter time swordfishing is all about.Hopefully the bite remains hot for the DarkSide of the Moon tourney next week.If u havnt been out either sailfishing or swordfishing the next few days will be ideal.I have herd many reports of sails and dolphin on the edge.Get out there and "HAVE SOME FUN!"
