Default Great Start In May!!!!!!

We started May off pretty well this year. We have made a few dolphin trips this week, and have had success on most of them. There have been lots of big dolphin in the last 2 weeks also. In the Grove Slam this past weekend, there were quite a few fish over 30lbs and a few close to fifty. We caught plenty of fish from 5-25lbs the past 2 weeks and a few tunas also.

Today i had the pleasure of fishing with a great groupe of guys from Cali.
We ran out 15 miles looking for dolphin, but didnt find a thing. Clean ocean with only a few birds and scatterd weeds. We ran back down to fowey and set up a drift on the edge. We caught a kingfish and had a few cutoffs on the first drift. I ran out and started the second drift a little bit deeper. We hooked up with a sail right away. 15 minutes later we released the first sail of the day. We quickly ran back to the area we hooked the sail, and caught a nice amberjack. We set up our next drift caught a double header of African Pompano. Those are such beautiful fish, we released 1 and kept 1 since it was gut hooked and wouldnt live.
We set up our last drift hook a bonita immediatly, and as we were throwing the bonita back the front flat goes off and we are on with another nice sail. We fight the fish for 5 minutes until he jumps and gets wrapped up in the 20lb and breaks the line.

All in all it was a great day on the water with a great group of guys. I have lots of trips coming up, so i will post reports when i get a chance. I am heading to Bimini for the Mutton Spawn this weekend, so look for that report sometime next week. Also have a few sword trips coming up too. I have a few dates still open in may. Lets get out there and catch some fish!

Tightlines,

Capt Joe
