Captain Cary's kick-butt charters

The past 2 weeks we have seen some non-stop action on the reefs. Earlier this week we went out with 2 dozen pilchards and set up our spread of bait. On the first drift we started out with a nice Kingfish and then we had us a triple header. The first rod goes screaming then the 2nd, then the 3rd. It was perfect for the 3 men who had come from the land locked state of Iowa. We ended up coming across a big school of Bonito Tuna. We continued in this pattern with a double header of Kingfish and both of these fish were big. The first one comes to the boat and we brought him aboard, he weighed 30 pounds. The second comes to the boat and he was the same size but the hook pulled. This was the best action we have had in months, the kind of day all charter clients wish they had. John said, " You should call your boat, Captain Cary's kick -ss charters". John and his friends were good sports too as they opted to release all their fish accept for the big King.

The pattern has remained the same. We were out today, 6/24/04 and the morning started off just the same. We first had a Huge kingfish skyrocket out of the water to get our bait. He slashed the bait and never came back. Then it was big Bonto Tuna over 15 pounds one after the other mixed with more Kingfish. Then things were quiet for a while. We watched a big rainstorm pass to the east of us as it blocked the sun for awhile. Then one of the rods gets hammered and line just peeled off the spool at a fast rate for what seemed forever. After the fish settled down the battle was on because the fish was holding his own and didn't want to budge any closer to the boat. After about 20 minutes or so of the rod being bent over hard we get to see some color under the boat but the fish still wouldn't come up. He did the death spiral and just kept circling. Shannon kept working the fish one crank at a time until I finally had a gaff shot. We boated a 25 pound Blackfin Tuna. A great way to end the day. Back at the docks we were feeding the Tarpon with the carcass leftovers and they were having a blast. It's great to see Tarpon over a 100 pounds feed with each other. Some looked like they were pushing 200 pounds.
