Last night Capt's Justin Nighan and Mark DeCabia had Richard Steer and his friends Bob and Jim out for another night of swordfishing. Bait was again very easy at the monument bouy where they filled the well with blue runners, rainbow runners and speedos. The afternoon wind subsided and presented excellent conditions for the crew to start an evening of swordfishing. Their first bite came just after 8PM when a fish ate a bluerunner down 150', unfortunately the hook pulled 15 minutes lateras the fish was making its initial run. After resetting they had a quick bite on a squid but never really came tight. Then, finally at 11:30 the tip rod got slammed and a respectable sword came racing to the surface to rip off a few jumps. Rich got in the harness and 15 minutes later put a fat 52" sword in the boat. Unfortunately the fish was foul hooked so he came home for the dinner table. After midnight the conditions deteriorated and the picked up the lines at 12:30 to doge the incomming T-storms. While the crew was clearing the lines a 5-6lb squid came in chewing on a blue runner, they made quick work with the gaff and after an "inking" the squid was in the boat (it measured over 24" long).
