Hot Tarpon Bite at Government - Knot Nancy Fishing Charters

After a 1 for 2 night of tarpon fishing at Haulover Inlet on Jan 11th, I decided to go to Government Cut for my Thursday evening charter. Matt Vigliotti and his fishing partner Richard Chase wanted to learn about and sample Miami tarpon fishing. On our first drift on the north side at Government Cut, Richard caught a nice feisty 50# fish. After several drifts with no action, we checked the main channel and the south side with out any action. Going back to the north side I found a fish further to the north and it was Matt's turn. Playing a hunch, I moved to another spot on the north side and we found the school of tarpon. From that point on, for the next seven drifts, we had action on all but two. Our first two shots resulted in thrown hooks by the 25 - 35 pound fish. Then we caught the next 3 in a row. We ended the night at Government going 5 for 7 on fish in the 25 - 50 pound range.

This was my best night of tarpon fishing thus far this season. Nights like this will become more and more common. We only saw a few shrimp in the water, but that was all it took to get the fish in a feeding mood.

Now is the time to book that tarpon trip. Even though the season will continue on through June, don't put off booking a date as I currently have bookings out into April. There are still some dates open between now and then so give me a call and lets go do battle with the mighty silver king.
