Default South Florida Fishing Report - Lucky Fishing Charters

Finally South Florida is starting to settle back into the groove of life. The roar of the chainsaws, bulldozers and generators is starting to subside and things are getting back to normal around here. After a couple of weeks of closed marinas, impassable streets and long fuel lines I was able to get back out on the water. To say that I was looking forward to fishing would be an understatement. I was part of a several boat charter for the Avionica Company. A couple throws of the net had my 100 gallon live well blacked out with bait. We picked up the guests and headed out of Government Cut for our charter. All the boats headed in several different directions to fish for different species of fish. A quick check of the log book showed that we had success last year right out in front of the cut. My friend and fellow captain Dave Kostyo caught dolphin in 800’ of water and was the first to report a hookup on dolphin.

Shortly thereafter we got our lines out and it didn’t take long before we had our first fish, a cobia. Not a bad way to start out the day. On our second drift the downrigger popped and we were on a nice Kingfish. Shortly thereafter the downrigger popped again and we had a Sailfish start tail walking right next to the boat. We have been able to get a sailfish on almost every trip that we have made. I believe in the conservation of these fish and soon it was released to fight again another day. Later on that day we added a Mahi to the box.

Overall the fishing was good. All seven boats reported good fishing with an exceptional Wahoo of 70#s being caught. As we start the beginning of our season I would like to let everyone know that we are fully operational and suffered no damage on the Lucky 27.We will also be starting our Tarpon season shortly. It is just a matter of weeks until we start seeing Tarpon at Haulover inlet which is 5 minutes from our docks. . Looking at my log book we had a very strong 2004/05 Tarpon season and we expect the same in 2005/06. This is a great way to spend an evening fishing with family and friends with a very short run to the fishing grounds. But don't wait to long to book your Tarpon charter as we have already booked a couple of dates. And for those that don't know what to get that special someone a Tarpon trip is inexpensive and the whole family can enjoy the trip.

I would like to take this time to thank all of my friends that have fished with me that called to see how I had done. That is what I love about my line of work your customers eventually become your friends. To you I say THANK YOU for all your support.

Till next time Best of Luck…
