my opinion is Foruno if those are the two choices. I used to have Foruno and when I re outfitted my boat I put in Simrad. They are harder to operate but top notch stuff.

depends on what you are fishing for ??? How deep ??? and how much you want to spend ??? I have a raymarine on my boat and it does the job .. but I`m in a 16 ` boat ... if you have a larger boat ... I would go with one that can do many things ... most important is the transducer !.. check old threads on the topic

ive got the raymarine multi function unit in my boat. i have got to say it is the best machine i have used. the simrad is nice but i have dealt with way to many problems with the simrad stuff and it takes half the day to figure out how to figure out how to use the thing. The furuno navnet is comparable to the raymarine but the GPS function on that unit is a pain, hard to run numbers on it. if your buying just a bottom machine the furuno might be better but i do belive that its all about the transducer and where the transducer is placed and if it is all done correctly. I have been very happy with the raymarine products thus far, i have the ray marine C and E series in two diffrent boats one in my 35 inboard and one contender with an outboard. i have have also had the raymarine auto helm in other boats as well. their customer service is second to none. in my opinion chek out the raymarine multifunciton units. the only diffrence between the C and
E series is that one is able to be the base for a network of electronic units. like one up in our tower and one down at the helm. I know many people that swear by the navnet but id never switch to it. just my opinion. |

I recently installed a Furuno FCV 585 with a 1kw thru-hull 'ducer. It has a huge 10" screen and will read anything out there I want to deep drop on.
I'm pleased with the price, features and ease of operation. It all boils down to personal preference, but whatever unit you get is only as good as the transducer .... Don't skrimp! |

Having had them all I'm sold on the furuno 1100 with a 2 or even 3kw.ducer. resolution is far and away better than anything else out there. My capt., a commercial fisherman ,is consistently able to locate new structure and parts of structure that his 1kw misses.
