Default all the right signs, but no pay off =(

fished the rodbenders tourny out of black point marina. started the day out finding a 25+ft whale shark, trolled it, pitched baits, jigged. nothing on it. moved on 1 log, same techniques applied, nothing. another log, same result. ran up on another large dorsal fin, sun fish, nothing on it. birds galore, hooked up a triple but all were 18 inches. found a buoy with about 30 ft of nylon rope attached loaded with life, yet again, no dolphin. finally found a pretty big weed patch area and trolled it. brought em up with some jigs, but all small. we headed in about 6:00pm. long day and very disapointed! oh well, bad day on the water better then a good day at work.

Sunday was bad for me too. 9 hours of fishing and a lone 8# bull to show for it. Cool sighting on the whaleshark and mola tho'.

BTW it's a bad day of FISHING is better than a good day at work. A bad day on the water can be worse than pretty much anything.

Suday was a good day, got a 40# cow on 10# spinning gear. Drifted a weed line for about an hour, no sign of life . Then the rod bends and starts screamin, set the hook and out of the water jumps a nice dolphin. Got her to the boat after a great fight. Nothing else the rest of the day, that was the only dolphin we saw. But im not complaining!!

Nice....That's the fish I was looking for. Had a baaaad day Monday. Seas as flat as can be and I blew the powerpack at about 15 miles out and spent 1/2 the day waiting for TB US.

Ivan11,

Sorry that your day on the water did not pay off as expected.... Please check out the "Temperature change - What side do you fish" thread in this forum. There are some hints on where to look for the right spot / conditions. Many anglers believe that this is the summer doldrums for dolphin and other species but that is not neccessarily accurate...
