Default Thru-hull mounting

I am in the process of outfitting the boat with electronics, since i bought it with none. I bought a Raymarine sounder with an thru-hull Airmar trasducer. I plan on mounting about 5 feet from the stern, ahead of the washdown thru-hull. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Its a 2002 230B Angler
thanks

1. Measure twenty times.....drill once.

2. Drill the hole straight up.... at the same angle as the deadrise.

3. Carefully mark the faring block... you only get one chance to make the proper cut.

4. Take your time. It's a relatively simple job, but requires a lot of planning.

5. Lightly sand the gel coat under the faring block before applying sealant.

6. Allow 72 hours for the sealant to set before launching the boat.

Good luck on the project!

Ive installed about 5 transducers, on boats from 31-45ft. Ive got the process down, just wasnt sure if the location on the bottom of the boat was the best. I guess I will have to put it in the back, just behind the fuel tank. I just wasnt sure if it would have less disturbance closer to the transom or further from it. This center-console thing is new to me, im used to big sportfisherman.

I was in the same position when I sold my big express and downsized to a 28' CC. I didn't want to give up the quality of a thru hull ducer just because I was downsizing in boats. I mounted mine 24" forward of the transome because I was extremely limitted on options for locations. Like you, I was concerned about cavitation and interference. As it turned out, I have none of those problems. My signal is excellent. Hope it works out the same for you!
