Where can ya get a very detailed bathymetric chart for the mid and lower keys. I dont mind paying for a good one as long as it has great detail of bottom contours and ledges & walls and stuff like that.
Anybody deep drop and use a sea anchor to slow the drift so you have more time in a productive bottom spot? How bout one of theese? Sea Anchor: Your First Line Of Defense When Facing Heavy Weather |

I always use classic anchor (I have 3300ft of cord on board). Because at the beginning you get some small fishes and all around the days predators come and you can catch bigger and bigger fishes.
The only way I fish without anchor is when it's a calm day without current and when fishes are in a bad day. Then you can search on different spots during a very slow drift. |

Charts! Tell me about bathymetric charts. Do you guys use them or do you put around the oceans glued to your sounder waiting to see structure to mark? I know the navy has them to see where submarines can hide. The way I see it if submarines can hide under a ledge, so can warsaw grouper!

I have them on both my gps's and on my computer at home. They are available from Garmin and c-map .My computer is using Carl Andren's program which is a great tool for converting loran-c to gps and displaying your waypoints on custom charts including bathymetric.Give him a call 312-725-4115 and he'll hook you up or check out the website Andren Software - LoranGPS Loran GPS Conversion Software, Plot, Map, Upload your coordinates to your GPS directly.. It's awesome, hope this helps.................Big G
