Default Islamorada hump 5/12/07

After catching some flipper bonita for bait, losing a 20# blackfin at the boat and not hearing of any mahi being caught we started dropping on some of pieces around the hump. We picked away at smaller AJs and some drops with nothing. The closer to the hump I got the better the readings. We wound up with 6 yellow eyes all about 6 lbs and a blackfin snapper about the same size. The comercial guys were catching bigger AJs doing it their way with long leaders and bandit reels and a few boats were catching them on butterfly jigs. Sunday we fished around Tennesee reef unfortunatly the lack of current sent us into the no fish zone for some snorkeling. Now I know where all 30-40# groupers and 10# mangroves are. Around 1:00 we got a little tide running and caught 3 yellow tails real quick. Two of them were 5 and 6#'s and the 3rd was 15". We also managed to catch and release a 150-200# nurse shark and a stingray about 3' across along with getting rocked up a few times.
