Yeah, Mike - all in lets go!

in the deep drop tounament we run in Nassau we have a seperate category for the bizarro fish like scrombrods, oil fish, angler fish pomfrets etc. Maybe that could be a category we all poll on at the end of the contest to determine the winner ( registered anglers only ). We would not necessarily look for the biggest fish but the wierdest or rarest.

definately should see some wild lookin stuff from other parts of the world

a tournament like this must be unique, ours in Nassau is the first I have heard of but this one open to all world wide has gotta be a first!

Both good reasons, but neither applies here. You have guys in Venice LA etc who have good shots at huge warsaws, the Keys have big snowys etc so why look to restrict to FL only? There was a pic in the gallery a while back of a 55# snown caught off cape canaveral I think.

I agree that Bahamian yellow-eyes are bigger and Belize is likely the only one to compete with us but I disagree that you or someone in LA can not compete in the grouper division against me. You have your tilefish division, fair enuf (even though I dont get a yellow-eye division to match) but the groupers are fair game all over.

BTW, when I do find el swordy over here I'm going to start b!tchin about entering the sword tournament on SFC too. As should Jerry down in Jamaica.

All the best for 2007
Agreed. Lookin forward to the competition. Let the games begin.

Hey poolman,,

It looked nice near shore . but when I got into the gulfstream ..it was a mess ... I was just trying my spots where I usualy get the big ones ..(practice for the contest):0 as for measuring ... I`m going to also include the grith and length... with date and newspaper I always weight my big fish ... I plan on getting my largest mounted .. I heard of one being caught years back off Davie that was over 20lbs..actualy its hanging on a wall at a tackle shop ..off Davie road near I-95..

I'd say weigh everything and post it just because we can and everyone will be curious to know, but have length as the criteria for where you place in the contest.

Well lets get after em. Let me know when your ready to get that boat of yours wet. A fella out of Lantana busted a 87lb warsaw in 380' off boynton
in september. Wouldn't have believed it but we were headin out when he was comin in and hollered at me to come take a peek in his boat. Friggin thing was huge Jim. Its gonna take some time and dedication to pinpoint em but we got as good a shot as anybody. Just gotta go do it. Live gogs. Deep wrecks. and that winch of yours should do it.

Default new to forum

Hey Dirty Foot 2, I live around Lantana and I saw your post about that Warsaw. I just found this SFC forum and saw there might be a tournament for deep-droppers coming up. I'd like to git into this, but I beleive that you need at least 10 posts to the forum. I think I've only posted once before this, maybe they ( who ever is hosting the event ) could re-think this part of the requirements. Like I said, I live around where you saw that fish and my guess it was me. If thats the case then we probably know each other. So if you see that "fellow" with the Warsaw again, make it a point to say "What up"
Good dropping to you all, and a healthly, prosporous New Year.

I hate to rain on your parade, but an 87# warsaw isn't all that big. That's small-medium sized for them.

You can catch a big warsaw on a goggle eye, but if you want to catch a BIG warsaw, you need to entice him with a huge bait. By huge bait, I'm talking about using a legal sized grouper, a whole bonita, or a 10# squid. It's got to get that big boy's attention if you want to TARGET him.

Default ist not raining here on my parade

Thanks for the info Boboe, nobody said it was big, just said it was 87 lbs. If you'd like to get a little calcuta going and you fish in the Martin, St. Lucie, Palm Beach and Broward areas, I'd be glad to get into that if you are interested, being that you have evidentley more experience with "monster fish"
than I do, but I'm always up for a challenge.
Peace
