Default Can't fish!

raining - cold front winds a rippin'...impossible to fish even if wanted to brave the elements...
so have had time to make some inventions.....one is improvised deep drop weight...filled a 1 1/4in pvc pipe with #9 bird shot and capped off both ends. the top end has a hole drilled for 1/4 in. ss eyebolt. I put a piece of heavy surgical tubing on bolt between eye and cap and squashed it down by tightening the nut on inside of cap. This makes a seal on bolt hole so shot cant fall out. the pipe is 20 in long and weighs 7 1/2 lbs. easy to handle and wont ding up your boat. it should go to the bottom like a rocket due to added length

next thing is a rattle.... take a 1 in. pvc pipe about 8 in long and put in some glass marbles..glue it together with air inside...use a heavy fishing wire and haywire twist around the body so cant slide off because of lip of cap. attach to top of your rig where you have the light. bouncing motion on botom should be enough to make the rattle.

when i was a scuba instructor we made these rattles and gave to our students to attach to their bc's so could get attention as they didnt have knives to bang on tanks.

anyhow - just an idea..they make plenty of deep sea lures with rattles nowadays.

BTW - was at capt harrys this weekend. saw that they are now selling no name brand lights that look lile the electralumes but are nearly twice as big for the same price. they looked like same quality manufactur and are water activated - replaceable batteries. come in all colors including squid disco.
i bought 3 to try out
