Gilly - alright. I'll temporarily back off on the pics from Tiley Town. But instead I'll post pics on here of some longnosed catfish we're going to catch on Saturday. We're in a sail tournament out of Palm Beach.

Gilly - Well, WE WON IT! I had Fullabull onboard as crew . You can tell you have a great crew when there is little discussion and no disagreement. Of course, there was a lot of talking going on. Who had the skankiest girlfriend in college, that sort of thing... (I won that one)

We had a tough time getting bait despite splashing at the ramp early and being in position to harvest bait by 510am. My hat is off to my friends Doug and Capt Steve Cienkowski (aka FishSteve) for their invaluable advice.

We got our one and only sail when Bill reeled it in and touched the leader at 756am. Turns out it was the only sail caught the entire day among the tournament competitors, giving us the win. Lord knows, everyone out there was trying their hardest including one boat with a full-time paid captain and crew. The sails were a little scarce today. Our sail was a biggun that hit a large rainbow runner.

Pics tomorrow.

Well done fellers! I was thinking of you guys as I watched rainshower after rainshower come through. I guess I've become a fairweather fisherman in my old age. Anyway, glad you guys stuck it out . Oh ... don't you know it pisses the the big fancy boats off when someone in a P.O.S rig takes home the bacon?

Gaitor - there's a thread dealing with the sail trmt over in the Sailfish Fishing forum. The pics are on there.

Congrats Catch,FOB, DF2. I love the look on the faces of the big sportie charters, when a "regular guy" boat takes the win. I like to think it humbles them just a little. Even though there were 3 skilled feesh-heds on that boat. 100FFC

Thanks Rich!

BTW - the 100FFC will soon be a new member club of the RFA. I am contacting them to find out how much per year, etc. I think it gives club members a reduced individual RFA member rate.

Lots of other benefits too. RFA runs some killer fun-tournaments, etc. In my old age I've grown to prefer fun-tournaments instead of big money tournaments. Fun trmts tend to keep the cheating to a minimum and they remain within the $reach$ of the average angler.

Mark

Sounds good catch. Hopefully we can get some support from them on some of the new regulation issues.

Actually all the other participants were gracious in defeat. We all went to the bar and dried off and warmed up. Fishing was tough. I really figured it was gonna take 7-8 sails to win this thing. We popped the leader on bills sail as fast as I could get my hands on it, and reset the drift. I kept expecting to see another sail, but king cutoffs, and spinner sharks feeding on the surface, was the only other action we saw. The tournament was cool, and all the guys from FS were regular dudes. I'm lookin forward to another bash. Its alot more fun than the big $ tourneys I fish. No stress, and alot more commraderie between the participants. At the big money showdowns everybody is keeping everything so close to the vest, with big sponsors and all, it becomes so corporate. This was just a bunch of hardcore fisherman out to see if they could catch a couple, have a few , and a few laughs. Kind of refreshing
