Xl001?

Im looking into getting into deep droping and have been searching around for a reel. I found the XL001, and was wondering if any body had any opinions on it?

XL series

All the XL are excellent. I use the least expensive XL75 model and it is outstanding

I was thinking about targeting golden tiles, gray tiles, snowies, vermillions, queens, mystics, and warsaws.

OK , I have been doing all of my drops manually ... you know now you are only allowed one snowie and one golden ......if you fish the bahamas then I would get a unit ... I just got my first golden on a spinning reel .. and had a blast reeling it in ... check my thread... golden tile fish in miami... the first couple of times I had a sore arm ... now no problem

Well I received the XL001 as a christmas gift, so now that is out of the way.
Can any one give me some pointers on starting??????? rigs, bait, depth, conditions
We'll be fishing out of Boynton, and any help is greatly appreciated.

Try fishing in water depth 600-650ft ... use a water activated strobe ...I am starting to like blue as my color of choice.. they are anywhere from 8-10 dollars... and keep the bait ,hooks close to the bottom ... tiles dont like to rise up to the baits ..squid is my 1st choice... hope that gets you started ... just wish the wind will die down !!!
