Default Deep drop weights?

I have mold for 3lb and 5lb weight but was wondering if anyone is making bigger weights? I am looking for something around the 7-8 and a 10. Is anyone making something that big? I haven't had any luck finding a mold bigger than the ones I have. Thanks in advance for the info...

Use Red Bull cans for 4-5 lbs. And it doesn't have to be Red Bull; it can be any one of dozens of trendy over-priced drinks marketed at the lemmings. Use 16 oz beercans for 7-8 lbs. I have found that jobsites are usually the best place to find empty Red Bull cans.

If you are using 80# braided then 4-5 lbs will work fine all the way to 600 foot. If you are using 130# braided then 7-8 lbs is called for due to the line's having thicker diameter and more drag thru the water. (thanks for the advice Fish-N-Dude!)

If you can find a boatyard with a bent propeller shaft say ... 2" dia and can cut them to 11" lengths ... you end up with a nice 10lb weight. Then just weld a SS lockwasher on the top and you're good to go.
If you want to make a mold ... get a thick-walled length of aluminum pipe and carefully cut it in two lengthwise. Cap one end with a fencepost cap which is also cut in half and has grooves to acommodate the copper loop. Use hose clamps to join it all together for pouring lead into it.
It's a PITA but it works.

I use galvanized pipes filled with quickcrete. I cut them if different lenghts and weld a loop on one of the ends. Works like a champ and cheap when you loose one. I tie 40lb test from the leader snap swivel to the weight.

Now there's a plan
I suppose you could cap the pipe and pour lead in for a more compact weight as well

I USE OLD WINDOW SASH WEIGHTS, FROM OUT OF OLD WINDOWS. THEY COME IN ALL SIZES, I LIKE TO USE THE 8- 12LB. SIZES. IF YOUR IN THE AREA OF WPB. YOU CAN STOP BY ADAM AND EVE. THE SELL OLD HOUSING WINDOWS, DOORS AND JUST ABOUT ANYTHING FROM OLDER HOUSES. I BUY THE WEIGHTS FOR APPROX. $1.00 - $2.00 EACH. IT'S A LOT CHEAPER THAN LEAD.

I guess i am going to try and make some out of 12 oz beer cans, and maybe some tall boy beer cans. I am not sure how much they will weigh but figure I will try out a few. Will let you know how it works out

Renegade - $1-$2 for each sash weight is CHEAP. But you'd have to store them in a plastic bucket because they'll rust-stain your deck PDQ.

I KEEP SOME IN A PLASTIC BUCKET AND SOME ARE DIPPED IN A RUBBER COATING AFTER BEING SAND BLASTED, THEY HOLD UP FINE. THOUGH I WOULD NEVER LEAVE AN UNTREATED WEIGHT ON THE DECK FOR THAT REASON. I HAVE A 29B SEAVEE THAT I BOUGHT NEW IN 1999 AND IT HAS NO STAINS.

2" pvc of varing lengths filled with guickcrete with a loop of stainless steel welding wire. Can also add any junk metal you have laying around. Cheap, works great and does not rust.

A bottle of Wink will fix those stains quick. Aluminum Brightener will rock them as well.
