Default BOCA Drops -- help?

I have a few numbers off Boca in 300, 400, 750,800 ft. I have been out the last few evenings and with my rig but have not had much action. A few off the marks you can clearly identify structure and fish, but unless you drop directly on it you are comming up empty. the structure is not that big -- i am figuring it is about the size of a small car in 300 ft -- kind of hard to hold and drop on.

The other spots do not necessarily have identifiable structure but are proven spots for Tile Fish.

Someone has told me that tile fish are not on structure -- they live in the mud -- anyone have any information on tile fish dewellings?

I am going south of the spots , dropping and then drifting over.

My set up is 5 circle hooks with squid, 10lb weight, disco light on a new LP12V.

Does anyone see anything that i am not doing correctly? Should i use more light? This set up that i use works wonders in the Bahamas for yellow eye.

Put a small weight on the top of your rig to get all the hooks on the bottom.I do not like the disco for deep dropping :???: Try one color light see if that works better. For tiles you have to keep it on the bottom. The small weight should be like 24oz.

Close to it but not on it.Like most fish look for them on the down current side looking for something to eat

Default Tiles

If you have a hump or slope fish on the top. In the deep water you will always find more fish on the top of structure rather than the bottom of the dropoff. It is the opposite in shallower waters for black, red, mutton etc... Tiles are usually in soft bottom around but away from some type of structure. They eat more shrimp and dig in the bottom.

I've never boated a golden tile, but all of the gray tiles I've caught off the Florida Panhandle have been over hard bottom.

thanks for your help. We did some drops on Sunday in the bahamas and pulled up some nice yellow eyes and what we think were gray or black snapper.

Coz... if you want to really know what's down there in 300 - 400 ft. Lets go out there and we'll dive it. Now you'll see the pictures and you'll know what's down there

Sounds great! I'll hold the boat steady and you jump over with the camera and a 45lb weight. I'll attach the deep drop rig to your belt for a quick retrieve.
