Default Bimini last weekend

WE had our annual trip this past weekend to Bimini. I was looking forward to it, cause a friend gave me some #'s to a dpot where he had caught queens.

Well very first drop in 990ft. as soom as it hit bottom we had bites. I wasn't waiting around set the hook and brought up my very first QUEEN SNAPPER!!!!!!!!

After that we started marking more in the area and caught 8, biggest one was around 24 inches.

total
8 queens
30+yelloweyes
2 blackfin snapper
2 unknown snapper like fish
1 30 yellowfin tuna while trolling to another spot

You're a droppin fool , Mon.

That is a great report. That would have made my trip even skipping the trolling part. But since you mentioned a Yellowfin Tuna, why waste the opportunity.

What did you get the Tuna on?
(For a quick rig, I will usually drop some form of Cedar plug.)

Did you get the Queens North or South of Bimini? I have spoken with a few droppers that haven't caught queens around Bimini for quite some time. Seems like they may be more readily available North of the NW channel.

Ya Mon.

hey mon,,,,,

We had a great time only had good weather for about 6hrs. The tuna was caught on a pre-rigged ballyhoo. We had another one on with a orange skirt but no takers on that one.

The queens were caught N of Bimini, actually not far from a spot i had marked from last yr.

I was headed up to the Issacs but never made it that far. I always wanted to go up there and look around but never seem to make it there for some reason or not.

trying to go back this month some time.

Ya Mon.

Sounds like fun.

Time to catch some Yellow-eye, yellow-fin, yellow-tail and yellow-mon tunes. Two to Six supermix. Ya Mon.

the trip to Bimini was good except the crossing in 5-7 ft seas -- a bit uncomfortable.

Once we arrived we went south about 18 miles off of cat and did some deep drops on a known spot. Loaded up with nice yellow eye.

trolled a bit on the way back and picked up some kings. Viewed a W. Marlin free jumping -- very cool.

Next day trolled up to Great Issacs w/o success. Yellow tailed it for an hour of nonstop action on my spot. then headed back to Boca.

The Bahamas is in the midst of reviewing and updating it's fishing regulations. They soon will have a limit per boat as oppossed to a limit per person on a boat. Also they are looking to prohibit forgien fishermen from taking conch and maybe in the future any lobster.
