I have 2500 yds of 150 power pro on the spool. I Palomar a 150 lb snap swivel to that. I put my water activated green deep drop light on the swivel and my rig. The rig is a 150 lb SPRO swivel then crimp on a 3 way swivel every 14 inches using 100 lb mono. Then crimp a 4 inch piece of 100 pound mono on the 3 way swivel and an 8/0 circle hook on the end. At the bottom I add one more piece of leader to another snap swivel but only an 80 pound size to attach the weight. Sometimes I use 3 hooks and sometimes 4 or 5. Sometimes I also add another hook on a 3 foot section of 100 lb mono to the snap swivel at the bottom with the weight. That way that one flies around a little further away from the whole setup.
I have pulled up a pair of Snowies (32 and 21 pounds) from 575 on this rig with no problem. Another time something took off with it at 575 feet and never looked back. When I finally tightened the drag to the point it broke the end of the 3 way that went to the hook had cinched down to the barrel wraps and finally the leader broke. Had to be a monster Warsaw. |
