I have heard that Tilefish are burrow fish. Should I fish a muddy bottom next to a structure or fish up on the rock itself? Also, I have read that tilefish mainly feed between 10:00 am and 3:00 pm when there is the most light, if there is any light at 1,000'. Is that the best time to catch Tile?....C

I found that all the fish are usually on the top of the structure. If I come across ledge or hump in 575 that drops to 635 feet I drift the top and hook up a few times but if I drift the lower edge of the ledge....nothing. Tiles are usually on top and close to the edge of the ledge. In shallower water 200 or less it would usually be the opposite.
Also, I seem to find different species in the same spots at diffrent times of the day. I will usually find Rosefish all the time but Snowies either early or late in the day with tilefish during mid-day. I do not know why. There is no light at 575'. |

Thanks for your feedback. I caught a few Tiles on my first two deep drop trips. Most of all, we caught Barrelfish, Beardfish, Rosefish, and one Sail on the surface. The Barrelfish was good to eat, but I am trying for Tilefish. I'll keep trying. Once again, thanks.....C
