the deep dropper forum is mostly referring to fishing 300 to 3000 ft using electric reels.

I have caught trigger fish in the Bahamas over reefs etc using any small offset hook and cut bait. Mostly queen triggers here, I no longer fish vertically in shallow water though.

when i go bottom fishing it is coincidence we catch trigger fish but we keep them because they are tasty. we usually catch them on squid. for hooks i use owners. for the size im not sure because we would catch them on big circle hooks ment for grouper and snapper.
