Default First Deep Drop--new to forum

I just joined because I realized that I had reached the pinnacle off just browsing here. Hello Uncle Buck, Gt Fish, SammytheBu11 and others from the FS Forum....The other reason is that I just started to deep drop and hope to soon(with the help of Steve(Iriesoul)) start daytiming for swords!!! Anyway the info on here is excellent and I hope to contribute to it....someday. For now here is the story of myffirst drop...and it's short.
Headed out to Push Button on Sunday to see a sea of boats. Did a couple drops in 300'. Then moved out to ~320. Then I got a nice hit. I thought maybe even bottom. I had my buddy start backing down due to the current which was about 3 knots. The fish started to fight until about 30' from the surface. He was caught on squid even though I had mullet on a few of the hooks. Here is the pic of the one grouper that I caught, probably by luck more than anything as I don't have any #'s yet.

I want to really also get into some tile fish. I had a few #'s years ago but lost them.....once again, trial and error, mostly the latter, will help get me back to the tiles....

Sammy--definitely. I will let you know when we go maybe you can hop on.

Hurrikane--I absolutely love it!!! I did alot of research before buying it and looked at alot of other boats. This is what I chose. I realize it may not be the perffect boat for everyone and everyone thinks their boat is the best, but for me it is a great riding boat with tons of storage!!
