Default Tomorrow is deep drop thursday

Thank god,I was getting ready to back the boat to the edge of our pond and throw a sash weight over the transom.

Plan A is hit the Deep one, maybe wander around in the mud while i'm there.
Plan b is if we have to go to 14a bouy to find bait,I will hit the muliphan and the wrecks offshore, maybe hit the peanut.

Full report tomorrow

I hope you have better luck than me, I went to my trusty spot today and got skunked violently, the current was about 3.5 knots north west, the wind was about 5knots from the west, most of the time we were drifting sideways (no matter what we did). the seas were FLAT as a pancake... good luck, tomorrow...

Not a slammer day,but we did catch dinner.
conditions were pretty good today, most of these were caught on the south end of the hill, and the inshore hill ledge. We probably could have anchored on the inshore hill #s but i don't think any of us was up to pulling the hook.
Conditions in 90 fathoms was fishable, but i got hung twice and gave up.

DL,
Hey DL,everything worked well,I had a newbe on one reel and he only had one oh sh!t moment by sending the weight over the tee top and getting a couple Circle Hooks stuck in his long sleave shirt.

My son did get to do battle with a couple slob amberjacks.

Yesterday i found a goldmine of deepdrop weight,I found a 12ft long 1 1/2in (Bronze) propeller shaft out of a 1962 Chrisavitch(sp)
I cut it into 10 nice deep drop weights.
Only lost one to the reef god today.

I hear you cappy sound like you had a pretty nice day. We use to fish those AJs on the Islamorada hump with those hydro bandits with 125 lb leaders and big speedos, and runners, those reels would bring them up with out a problem.
Back then we were getting AJs 50-100 pounds and they pulled like hell we average 2000 pounds or more a day. I use to love trolling the deep reef for groupers in the winter we had stainless wire spools for that.

Tight Lines!

DL,

DL,
I have fished the hump in Islamorada,I i must admit when you get on top of the hump you have no idea witch way the tide might spit you out,and yes i made a huge deposit to the lead god.I have never caught a 100lb AJ,i imagine they could kick some serious azz. When fishing was slow i would take my customers to a few wrecks to our north and let the AJ's beat on them on 20lb spinning tackle, always a day maker for me.

Nice snowies there hammer.

We were out yesterday down here and managed 26 queens, 1 misty, 1 pomfree( first one) and a handful of wenchmen.

Good day and a long day. We had a few run ins with the old taxman but we came out on top.

Eric

I checked the reg's the night before,I didn't know they changed a couple weeks ago.
Like I said earlyer,it has been about 4-5 years since i fished. We were not trying to get by the reg's.
just a mistake, like my son explained on the other forum.
