Default Electric reels.... Ryobi???

Has anyone tried the Ryobi electric reels for deep dropping for tiles /grouper.
I am looking at a Ryobi AD 101 Hi-power. Looks like it has enought capacity and drag??
Any other recommendations?

I was wondering the same thing. Ryobi definitely has the technology in the cordless tool manufacturing. I bought a couple 18volt drills a few years ago for a hidden fastener ipe and teak boat house job. They were only like $75 a piece and I did not want the help dropping any of my $300 Panasonic drivers in the salt. Since them I have abused, dropped, left out in the weather, let get covered by concrete and grout and generally beat the crap out of those tools. They refuse to die or malfunction. It would be cool if they made some reels or power supplies that took their standard 18v battery packs.

I own two 101,but they have some disavantages....

There is a very little black plastic wheel on the back, for misuring depht,it can happens that braided line tie against it....

Keys are very little, discomfortable, and written japanese....

Sometimes alarm on surface dont work, and tacle hurt against rod...

Today one is off duty because dont drop down...

Star cluth is very cheapy and easy to broke...

Coil contents about 800m of 80lb braided(about 2500ft),and reel is strong enough for our "cernia"(Polyprion americanum) and big "gronco"(Conger conger).....
