Default Electralume green, deep deep drop

Hi guys,
I've just ordered a green light from meltons, for use in deep dropping.

I wanted to know what is the max depth people have used them for repeatedly. I plan on using it at a depth of 1500' chasing some deep water ooglies, at present we don't use a light of any description. The light will be looking at being dropped 5-10 times a day, anymore than that and I'm too stuffed.

Another Q, what is the warranty like on the lights? I know they have been tested to 2000+', are they gauranteed to that depth? Will the large chem lights cope with that sort of depth, or will they implode?
Thanks.

Josh

You should have no problems with the batterey powered lights, we've dropped them to 2800 with no problems, just screw the lid on tight. The chemical lights implode after 400 feet, and you dont really need light to that depth.

Default deep drop

Hi! Josh:
I'm doing some deep fishing in Chile using an electric reel "Miya Epoch 500", with electralume lights up to 2,300 Ft.
What kind of reel are you using?

I'll be doing it the hard way, manually.

I've got an old Everol 6/0 lined up for the job, it has a nice tall, narrow spool to aid in the retrieve.

It's not exactly sportfishing, we leave the rod in the holder and crank it up swapping anglers as needed.

Our main target is blueye cod, which is similar in appearance to your wreckfish.
